Patchwork

If only all bird photography was as easy as this! I noticed a largish flock of Winter Thrushes from our kitchen window this morning, so I donned my wellies, grabbed my bins and camera and walked a few yards to the small park across the road where a tree full of berries seemed to be of specific interest. It wasn't all plain sailing - the flock was quite flighty, so what with the postie opening and closing creaky gates, a dog walker shouting "Are they Redwings?", vehicles reversing along the cul-de-sac, and some very changeable, but mostly dull light, it was a waiting game. After a little while though, this Fieldfare popped out into the open, just as the sun broke through behind me.
