Night descends upon the city and the air is crisp.

I watched The Color Purple for the first time today. It was really something so far from what I had expected. I was moved to tears so many times. It may at first appear cheesy, especially when newer films by Spike Lee, Steve McQueen and Lee Daniels have created such powerful pictures since then, but the power goes much deeper when juxtaposed with the lush cinematography, love, comedy, and deep emotional themes. I need to read the book. What a film!
