Victoria Tower

Victoria Tower is a prominent St Peter Port landmark, commissioned and built in the 19th Century to commemorate the surprise visit to the island in August 1846 by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

The foundation stone was laid in May 1848 and from my research it seems that the tower was completed in the same year, which is pretty good going when you see how long it takes to build some buildings these days!
