Jewelled tree

When the King offered her precious metals and jewels and furs, she turned his proposal down, saying that precious metals and jewels and furs were less beautiful than the sight of dew sparkling on a spider’s web.

When she returned home, she found the tree outside her door decorated with spider’s webs made of the finest threads of silver on which sparkled dewdrops that were diamonds. And at the centre of each web sat a spider made of dark Mink.
After careful consideration, she accepted his silver and his gold, his furs and his proposal. She had known that he was wealthy but she had not known that he was so determined. And she really liked the little spiders.

An Advent calendar. A rare misprinted edition with the same Robin behind every door. Surprisingly, it is not worth more than a standard calendar.
