Solitary Splendour

The best laid plans ... before we moved to Bridgewater, we lived an hour south in a town called Fairfield.  I heard that there is a house there that is covered in thousands of Christmas lights, and thought it would make a wonderfully seasonal blip, so when Mr. W came home from work this evening, we set off, camera at the ready to capture the amazing scene.

But when we arrived at the address, not one single, solitary light was lit!  The weather turned bitter cold today, and we are being warned about wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour, so apparently the owners of the brilliantly lit home opted not to light up tonight.  All was not lost, however ... as you will see in the extra, some of the neighbours were not so meteorologically concerned!

On the drive home, we came across this marvelously whimsical solitary pine tree, standing at the edge of a reservoir all dressed up for the season with only the moon for company, and I instantly fell in love.
