the night shift

We live a block away from Duncan Iron Works. Men were working there this evening. The doors were open. I stood on the street waiting for one of the men to weld. Ten minutes I waited while he positioned the steel beam, talked to other workers and then began welding at 9:24pm.

Fortunately the work shop was well lit.

My father had a small welding shop. He too had a blue Miller welder and a red oxygen bottle, black acetylene bottle and a mask.
