Courbet at the Grand Palais

A large display for an exhibition of paintings by Gustave Courbet (1818-77) at the Grand Palais in Paris.  I love the implication that the prancing horses in the background (on the roof of the building) are somehow tormenting the artist. Here is the painting--a self-portrait. 

Backblipped on 16 December 2016 (for no particular reason than that it popped up when I was looking through my photos).
