Ready to play

Girls going back on the court after a time out.  Extra: celebrating after winning the last game of their provincial tournament, and I was jumping up and down with them, so another terrible photo!
We had such a great time at the provincials!  The girls ended up almost even, 10 sets won, 11 lost, and finished in 13th place out of 16 teams.  With a bit of luck, they could have ended up in the top 8, but everything considered, they did very well.
A bonus for us was watching two teams from Prince George play as well.  We spent 10 years teaching and coaching there, and we found connections with the coaches, players, and parents with the teams.  One of the teams was from the high school that R went to - and she played for the school in volleyball provincials in 1987!  The coach was related by marriage to her coach.  One of the refs, Mike,  was her PE teacher, and he coached boys' volleyball at the school for years.  G also taught at that school, and it was very unexpected to see Mike there.  He was so surprised to see the three of us, and he watched a bit of Kalyn's game.  "She's a very smart player," he said.  Nice compliment from someone who really knows the game.
The coach from the other team, JP, was a teenager when we lived there, and we coached against teams he played for.  We've run into him at club volleyball provincials, so it was great to see him again.
So glad that we made the trip!
