Melting into its tomb

Was a bit more up market today for I went to a supermarket (well, a really good corner shop) with all sorts of imported and local brands of foods; half the shop was devoted to shampoos, creams and other female items.  Then to Anokhi (which I avoided) and round the corner to several similar but less expensive outlets of beautiful cotton clothes – mostly block print and some indigo. Nothing for me though and I walked on to a jeweller who specialises in cloisonné work – simply beautiful stuff – he runs courses – and then to the railway station.  A ghastly woman’s voice kept on intoning the train times in English as well as Hindi and I found there this poor little road roller which had become enclosed by wire, walls and rubbish, which was gradually sinking into the ground. Then round the back of the station I found the area where really poor people hang out. I also looked into a site that was being decorated for a posh wedding this evening – endless work for men setting up tables with flounces pinned around them, hanging fabric flowers everywhere,  faux pillars and surrounds that will all be taken down tomorrow.  After that it was a quick tuktuk ride back to the main post office where, around the back, was a philatelic museum – much devoted to cricket stamps from all over the world commemorating cricket series – and cabinets of postmen’s badges.  Everything was behind glass so nothing as sharp as it should be but I rather liked the little daggers with bells with the dual purpose of announcing the runner’s arrival with the post and saving his life from dacoits and wild animals en route.
So this is another entry for DS62 with thanks to Evolybab for hosting and also
