Octavia Hill

Octavia Hill was one of the founders of The National Trust in 1895.  Ide Hill was one of 3 Kent hills that she saved from developers now protected by the National Trust for the enjoyment of all.  Apparently she was the first to use the term Green Belt - see here .
We came across this  commemorative seat to her today.  No 1 son R had driven from Gloucestershire for the weekend just to lend younger brother M  his enormous rucksack for a holiday in Aus over Christmas.  M started at Ide Hill and ran home across the fields - 18km . The rest of us pottered round Ide Hill ( no walk there is flat) looking for geocaches  and drove home. I did take the seat without the props as well but it looked better with people sitting in it.
