The marble carver

This man is the fourth to have worked on this statue of Shiva, Parvati and Ganesha. The first blocked it out, the second made a rough carving, the third finished off the carving and this man is making the fine details before a fifth does the polishing.

I spent a couple of hours in an IT shop in a building containing more than 50 outlets for phone/computer/electronics.  We managed, with the help of Chrome to upload the previous two days extra photos but tonight it won't work again.  So frustrating.

I followed a cow down an alley to a shrine where she picked up a plastic bag containing an offering of sweets.  She crunched away happily before regurgitating the bag, then she picked up a second which made her make a stupid face but she didn't spit it out while I watched.  I also watched a chicken eating the beads from a bit of styrofoam - I wonder what her eggs taste like...

Have had fun looking at motorbike helmets and the way they are worn.  They had to be worn in Delhi but the further south you get the less it seems to be essential.  Some never do up their straps, others tip them back on their heads, wear builders helmets or ones looking like army helmets and I've even seen a colander!  The girls use them as fashion items and everyone masses at the lights and bend forward to take off as if they were in the Derby.

Found the Maharajah's stable for old vehicles - such fun to get behind the scenes.  In the entrance were murals of the old transport - elephants.

Yesterday and today's extra photos can be found on the link at the bottom of this page here
