For a long time I thought I would spend this day like a Miss Haversham character, alone and miserable in my flat, not seeing another person.

The day could have hardly been more different. I spent the first half volunteering at Crisis at Christmas giving massages to some lovely people who are homeless. The place had a very positive, warm vibe and I was tickled to be there. The second half was spent with old and new friends. This lovely couple invited me into their family for a delicious meal and a cracking quiz about puddings. I'm grateful to everyone I was with today.
