A week of lunchtimes in Ipswich - Thursday

Discovered a whole new world today during my lunchtime meander. been to parts of the town I've never been to before.

When we moved here all the houses looked the same and small, so we couldn't distinguish between a "good" neighbourhood & a "bad" neighbourhood. Now we recognise better & bad areas to some extent, but we're still not used to properties changing from "posh" to "chav" in one street block.

I used C's old Finepix today. Thought it was lighter & smaller to carry to work & might deal better with being lagged around in my bag. Good idea, but it would have been better if I tried it out first. Couldn't see the subject, didn't know whether the picture was taken, etc. Need more practising.

I didn't plan for all the blips this week to include a church, but with 12 medieval churches in Ipswich town centre it's difficult to miss them.

C is cooking a pigeon for tea with onions (2 from teso, finely chopped & 5 out of the garden, whole), leek & potato with white wine. The neighbour shot the pigeon last week in our tree, dressed it & gave it "back". No we have an understanding: if they shoot & dress it, we'll cook it. If they do 4 at a time, we'll make a neighbourhood occasion out of it.

"But the road, yes the road is winding
Fear not, don't be frightened
Let us go now, let us wait no longer
look at the falcon, look way up yonder"
Christopher Tarr, The Falcon
