Shells

The aftermath of a seafood feast from before Christmas. As it was explained to me, these shells are attached to wave battered rocks by long, seaweed-like tubes. Collectors rappel down the rock face to harvest them. Once boiled, the meat is obtained by twisting the shell while holding the tube and then pulling the the edible part out of the non-edible tube by these shells. My wife, of course, plans to make use of them in a project or two (once they are sufficiently dry and non-smelly). In the meantime, they make for some interesting patterns.
