Portencross Castle

Visit to Portencross for the first time with C. Beautifully rugged stretch of coast with views across to the Isles of Little Cumbrae, Cumbrae, Bute and Arran.

Portencross is reputedly the place the bodies of dead Kings of Scotland from 810-1093 AD were taken to before being sailed to Iona. The bodies would have been interred in the old castle on the hill.
