Delight

Christmas Day started early for Katie. She woke up at 3 and was unsettled the rest of the time. Her tummy was hurting and she wasn't totally happy. She threw up at 5 and then seemed to perk up a little. She played quietly in her bed. Grandad and Granny surfaced around 8.

We opened just a small number each then had breakfast together before church. One of her presents, the one she is holding, is her new scooter. She'd said to one of her friends that she wanted "a giant teddy monkey and a new scooter. And if I get them, they'll be under Grandad's table because that is where big presents go". So we hid her presents and "santa" left a note under the table telling her to keep looking. This was her "I've found my scooter hiding under the chair cushions" face. She asked to take her scooter with us so that we could give it a test after the service. She took Giant Teddy Monkey (who was hiding with the Christmas dog) into the actual service with us. After church we went to the Marine Drive and she & I did a few kms of her scooting (its fast!) and me getting a little run.

When we got home it was time for a few more presents. She began to flag, opening her presents with her head snuggled in her monkey (one of the extras). I suggested it was time for her annual Christmas Day nap. She said her tummy was still hurting and went to sleep quite quickly. I  went to check on her when lunch was ready but she didnt want starter. When she woke, she did feel like trying some main course and it all seemed to help a bit.

We had a lovely leisurely Christmas Dinner and it wasnt that long before it was time to go to my aunt's. Present swapping and silly games followed before tea. Katie normally goes to bed at my aunt's quite soon after the first games but today her younger cousins were leaving so she was the only small child and ended up staying up with everyone else. She had a lovely time doing some crafting with my aunt whilst the grown ups went and played new market. She popped in to raid the snacks about midnight, full of it.

Happy Christmas, blip!
