Snake temple

Sander (my Dutch friend) wanted to go to the snake temple near the airport, which I'd never actually heard of. I was a bit sceptical that it would be good but we got on really well so at least we'd make it a fun day out. We got a cheap taxi to the south of the island and walked around the temple. There were plenty of venomous snakes in the trees, but it was safe as the areas were separated by walls and the snakes were all asleep during the day. There wasn't much to see but on the way out we noticed a small entrance to the 'snake farm'. It cost RM8 (£1.50) and it was definitely worth it!

The owner spent about 20 minutes just with the two of us, showing us all of her snakes, most of which she's raised since young. She is clearly very attached to them and told us all about each species. We got to hold lots of snakes, from small grass snakes to massive pythons. The photo is of a beautiful golden python. I really enjoyed it, she was very interesting and seems to look after her pets.
