Prunella ... Like A Medicine

It was a nice after summer day so to speak. About 20°C, most of the day a by clouds filtered sunshine and less wind. At least in the south west part of our country.

Caring for my mum is intensified. Getting used to an increased dependence is very difficult for her. And the change in the composition of the medicine package provides many a problem.

My blip for today is a picture of a Brunel (flower) or Prunella vulgaris (known as common self-heal or heal-all), an herbaceous plant in the genus Prunella.

Wiki says: "Self-heal is edible: the young leaves and stems can be eaten raw in salads; the whole plant can be boiled and eaten as a potherb; and the aerial parts of the plant can be powdered and brewed in a cold infusion to make a tasty beverage.

Medicinally, the whole plant is poulticed onto wounds to promote healing. A mouthwash made from an infusion of the whole plant can be used to treat sore throats, thrush and gum infections. Internally, a tea can be used to treat diarrhea and internal bleeding."

I thought it fits a bit in the atmosphere of today. For the time being there will be lesser chance on the Fridays to spend substantial time to make pictures ... The good thing is: there's the all-in-one iPhone ... ;)
