Heysham

Heysham old village is on the eastern side of Morecambe Bay.
The photograph shows St. Peter's Church which dates back to the 8th. century. The churchyard has many Viking and Saxon remains. Across the Bay the outline of Lake District hills can just be discerned.
Immediately to the south is the National Trust site of Heysham Head. Here are the remains of a second religious building, St. Patrick's Chapel. This also dates back over 1300 years.

Standing on this site and looking to your left is thought provoking as less than half a mile away are two nuclear power stations and a busy port.

Blue skies and still air greatly added to the pleasure of our visit with blue, mirror like water filling the Bay.
