Tough old Gertrude!

This is one of our treasured roses, Gertrude Jekyll, in bud and dusted with frost this morning. Like its namesake, the famous garden designer (1843-1932), it is tough and determined to be flowering at this time of the year. The flowers normally have the most amazing scent, but I doubt that will work in this weather!
