Parque Nacional Uruapan

We ventured to Uruapan to visit the Parque Nacional, one of Mexico's 56 National Parks. The park is extremely beautiful and very hard to photograph. While this shot showcases everything for which the park is famous; bridges, waterfalls, the river, and tropical foliage, it also illustrates everything that is a photography nightmare; deep shadows, brilliant waterfalls, dense foliage, and dark stone cobbleways. These elements combine to create a dynamic range that is just too great to capture effectively. That didn't, however, stop me from trying. My wife liked this the best, while I was more drawn to shots that isolated a particular feature of the scene, but I wanted to show the variety of this magnificent 452 acre location, which became a National Park in 1938 and still looks like something out of an Indian Jones movie.
