Finger posts

In West Sussex where I live the country lanes have these 'Finger post' sign posts, giving directions from village to village often with distance on as well.
Ironically quite a few are in terrible repair, and the finger giving directions to the place I want to go to is either pointing the wrong way or more often than not missing completely! This is such a shame as they really are quite iconic.
I especially liked this one, as it is standing right in front of some very barren winter landscape.....beautiful in a stark kind of way all of it's own.
Only 25 more days to February and I can't wait!
