A Midsummer Night's Dream

The Fairy and the girl met in the forest one moonlit Midsummer night. The Fairy's dress was made of patches of moonlight that shone through the leaves and her voice was the sound of the stream that ran through the trees. The girl wore her Grandmother's wedding dress which had been thriftily dyed and altered and her voice was the soft sound of lullabies and cows being coaxed into barns.

They spent the night walking and talking and dancing under the trees.

And, after that night, she never looked at anyone else. Her heart had been stolen forever. And every moonlit Midsummer night, she walked through the forest, hoping to see the girl again.
