Enjoying the last rays of the sun together

and laughing at me as I poked my camera out of the rickshaw.  Went out into the sticks today - first to an amazing animal rescue center, a charity Animal Aid Unlimited  run by an American and loads of volunteers.  They take in injured and sick animals so there were masses of street dogs that when they recover will be spayed or castrated and put back in the place where they were found. All the dogs receive rabies vaccinations. Those too damaged or ill will be kept for their natural life.  There were donkeys, a camel, lots of cows and goats.  They run an education program especially with the donkey owners and they are going into schools to educate the kids about the dangers of plastic bags - to stop their mothers tossing out the veg peelings inside plastic. They did a post mortem on a bull recently and found 85kg of wet plastic in his stomach.

The drive onwards took us through the marble district where there were some stunning carvings - some modern ones too which was refreshing.  then came the marble slab carvers - huge blocks arriving by lorry and unloaded by cranes, carved with saws, fissures filled with glue and then polished till like mirrors.

Then to a beautiful C13 temple which had had the faces of all the carvings mutilated by Mughals. Coming back there was an elephant in a clearing beside the road with 3 handlers - they had slept there overnight and were on their way to a festival. It was good to be able to get up close.  Back in town there was a cacophony of sound from a wedding band and  competing music cart - the horse was standing waiting and I took some pictures of the wedding guests as they arrived.  Getting ready to move on tomorrow and may not have wifi.  the elephant is here
