Saved from dereliction

This wonderful Victorian pier at Saltburn-by-Sea has been damaged numerous times by storms but by reducing its length each time and patching it up it still stands magnificently above the waves.   In 2009 The National Society of British Piers voted it 'Pier of the Year'.
