Ailsa in Avoch

I set off from Edinburgh heading for Avoch to stay with Ailsa, at the beginning of a four day whirlwind tour of the west highlands. In deference to Ailsa's feedback, I'm posting a terrible photo and can inform you that Edinburgh and Avoch (pronounced Och) are just over 150 miles apart - a grim 3 hour drive on the A9, which is not the most fun road in Scotland.

We polished off some wine and whisky, while consuming lovely pasta and veg. The cottage is traditionally cold and damp, but it was a mild night and we had two stoves blazing. Her flat mate is away somewhere properly warm, so there was a spare room - although the sofa looked fine & is much closer to a stove.
