A frog's eye view...

...or perhaps, more accurately a view of some frogs' eyes. Perhaps a rather warped convolution of the MonoMonday theme.

The last view that these frogs had was a herons beak lunging towards them....

We have a thriving population of breeding frogs in our garden ponds, but as soon as they begin to assemble in early spring, one or more herons descend and start picking them off, one by one. Like foxes, the herons seem to predate more than they can eat, and we often find corpses lying on the lawn. Lat year we erected spiky palisades of canes all round the ponds, to stop their depredations (and to prevent them from puncturing our newly restored pond liners).

As most of you know, we are a family of biologists, and so some of these corpses have been preserved in alcohol, for use as a teaching aid. And it has provided me with some rather surreal subject matter on another rainy day when I was lacking inspiration.
