Strathspey's Caledonian

I went to Aviemore today to photograph 'Thunder in the Glen'. This is a meeting of 100's of Harley Davidsons from all over the UK & Europe and they do a slow drive past up Aviemore High Street. It's a real sight and the noise is music to the ears of bike fans. Some were really impressive especially the trikes. The drive past lasted 40 minutes.

Returning to Nairn via Granton on Spey you run alongside the track of the Strathspey Steam Railway that operates from Aviemore, via Boat of Garten (The Osprey Village) up to Broomhill Station. The fans of the TV series 'Monarch of the Glen' will know the station better as 'Glenboggle'. I could see the steam in the distance so decided to detour off down to the station area. The Caledonian had just switched from the rear to the front of the rake of LMS carriages in the passing loop and was ready for the return trip to Aviemore. It leaves the station on a right hand curve passing under the bridge. For train buffs, Caledonian 828 is an 0-6-0. She was exhibited in the Glasgow Transport Museum from 1966 to 1980.

I like bikes, but I prefer trains hence todays photo.
