Different Saturday

Saturday didn't turn out quite as we expected or planned for.

Usual morning breakfast in Nero and then shopping for mum. We went up to the flat and didn't here the tv on as we usually do. She was in bed - well had been from Wednesday but was better on the Friday evening and had expected her to be better today. She looked awful. Hardly able to speak and slurring a bit. Said she was dizzy since wakening up and a muzzy feeling in the head. She was also drifting in and out of consciousness which was worrying. Decided to call the ambulance as she has a history of TIAs and that's something you need medical advice on anyway.

The paramedics came did some tests and then decided to take her to A and E. a wee while to wait till a bay was available then the nurse came and did some more tests. It was very busy and took a while before a doc came, but meanwhile there was much noise and chattering from the next bays - this scene here was when the guy in the adjoining bay, who had lain in his flat for four days as he had fallen and because he couldn't move had to soil himself and I heard the nurse saying she would have to cut his clothes off and wash him - this was when the smell started wafting over. I put some antiseptic on the tissue and breathed that. It was kinda ripe smelling in there!!

The doc decided mum had labthrinits an infection affecting the head and ears. She got this enormous injection in her bum and started to feel better as time went on. We asked if she could go home rather than be admitted and after asking her to walk (assisted) up the corridor without being dizzy which amazingly did.

We took her home and into bed gave her a sandwich and a cuppa and her iPad and she watched some tv then off to sleep.

We were very exhausted too.

Again, a big thank you to the Nurses who keep the a and e ticking over and of course the docs.
