A wild day in the North today, bits of tree flying by as I walked pooch this morning.
This fungi looks great from this angle, his top had definitely been nibbled though.
The wild weather made an admin day more bearable, so tax return done, French bills paid and three new night navigation courses loaded onto the Mountain Training website.

It's often said that any mushroom is edible once...
Identifying fungi is a minefield, and so rightly puts people off - but there are some simple steps you can take.
Never pick anything with gills (see the underneath of this mushroom, the radiating ridges attached to the stem and(or) the cap in a uniform way)
This tip means that you will miss out on some wonderful mushrooms, but crucially it also means that you'll miss all the ones that can do serious harm.

Forage in France - where pharmacists are legally obliged (& really don't mind) to identify them for you.
