Truffle salt

Have you ever tried truffle salt? If not, you may be in for a real taste treat. The reason I say "may" is that not everyone likes the flavor. It is sometimes an acquired taste. I love it! My wife Tandy, does not care for it.

If you do try it and find that you like it, you will also find that truffle salt has an amazing ability to transform one flavor into a whole NEW flavor that will surprise you! It is excellent on almost anything you can think of - including simply shaking a small amount into the palm of your hand.

Truffle salt is traditionally made with a combination of 5% truffle flakes mixed with 95% sea salt. A small amount of truffle can go a LONG ways!

And if you would like even MORE flavor, then you might want to sample the 10% truffle salt. Here in Seattle, the 10% blend can be found at La Buona Tavola in the Pike Place Market. The staff at La Buona Tavola refers to the 10% blend as "Truffle KABOOM!" And it IS quite the taste explosion!

Even the 5% concentration will make your food POP with flavor that you have never experienced before! Use sparingly! A little goes a long ways :)

My advice is to try the 5% version first, then decide if you would like to kick it up a notch.

And don't waste your time on the truffle honey, as it is only 1%. May as well use regular honey and simply sprinkle a bit of your 5 or 10% truffle salt on top.
