Bizarre dinner

We went to Day's Chinese Buffet for dinner to celebrate my mother in law's birthday. There was quite a few of us as a load of our family from London happened to have come down for the weekend. It was lovely to see everybody and to get together, but the buffet experience was a little odd...

The restaurant was run with military precision. You are limited to 2 hours at your table (they came and gave us a five minute warning when we approached our 2 hours) and you have to pay upfront. I dropped my family off and went to park the car, so turned up later than everyone else and didn't know you had to pay first, I thought I was joining my family at their table, so jumped the long queue only to get into trouble for doing so.

As for the buffet it was an experience in itself - about 150 dishes but getting to it and carrying it back to your table was pretty crazy as it was really busy - not your usual relaxing dining experience.

The food was tasty but not very hot, but it was great to see everyone, and afterwards, the younguns went out clubbing and we went to the casino where my mother in law won about £50
