An amateur's window on the world

amateur (n) from French amateur 'one who loves', 'one who cultivates and participates (in something) but does not pursue it professionally or with an eye to gain' Online Etymological Dictionary.

O dro i dro, mae pobol yn gofyn i mi i dynnu lluniau o ddigwyddiad, achos maen nhw'n gwybod fy mod i'n hoffi tynnu lluniau.  Dw i jyst amatur brwdfrydig a dw i ddim yn gallu gwarantu canlyniadau. Dw i wedi cael fy ngofyn i dynnu lluniau o ddigwyddiad yn y gwaith yr wythnos nesa. Bydd e'n ddiddorol i fod y 'ffotograffwr swyddogol' ac yn ffodus maen nhw'n ymlacio am ansawdd  y canlyniadau.

Occasionally, people ask me to take pictures of an event, because they know I like taking pictures. I'm just an enthusiastic amateur and I cannot guarantee results. I've been asked to photograph an event in work next week. It will be interesting to the 'official photographer' and fortunately they are  relaxed about the quality of the results.
