Huddersfield Toy Town

Out early today on the Pennines, a low rising mountain range that separates the North west from Yorkshire. a.k.a The backbone of England. We traversed the Pennines to no avail, the clouds were down and extremely hazy so distance could not be photographed accurately, making for washed out photographs and fed up me and D! We carried on through to Yorkshire to castle hill in the hopes of a break in the cloud, wasn't to be. So I have thrown away all of todays photographs. Curses, ah well there's always tomorrow.

From Castle Hill and the Victoria Tower there are superb views across the Holme Valley to Holmfirth and Holme Moss to the south (marking the northern boundary of the Peak District National Park), the Emley Moor transmitter to the east (a concrete communications tower which is Britain's tallest free standing stucture), and the sprawling industrial mass of Huddersfield to the north.

So today's blip is one of Huddersfield town taken from The Victoria Tower on Castle Hill. I have used the miniature setting on my Camera which gives the appearance of being a model or toy image. It is merely an illusion created by the camera and fools the eye. I liked it and thought it was a fun image for today.

My word for today:

Lugubrious - adj Mournful, dismal, or gloomy, especially in an affected, exaggerated, or unrelieved manner. Sums up todays weather conditions completely. However D and me enjoyed today very muchly.

Hope the sun is shining on everyone today!

P.S. When we arrived back over the Pennines from Yorkshire into Lancashire the sun was beaming down from beautiful fluffy white clouds, bloody typical really!
