Above And Beyond...

The Ostrich Inn

We left home about 12.30pm in mild bright weather to drive to London for our stay overnight at a hotel. On approaching Wiltshire it had turned to driving rain and fog - more typical of Welsh weather!

This evening we headed a few miles back along the M4 to The Ostrich Inn, Colnbrook (Slough) for a meal. We were last there a good three years ago after we dropped the son, Nathan, off for his flight to Australia. We were very impressed with the old world style of the pub and the superb food and this visit did not disappoint.

On talking to three of the locals, a James Hunt look-alike who says he's frequented this pub for 25 years informed me that it's England's third oldest pub. I googled it and it dates from 1106 with a fascinating history that is well worth the short read - trust me!
