If you want proper bagels in the National Capital area, here’s where you come - Goldberg’s in North Bethesda (and other locations). It’s a solid hour’s return trip from where we live, but well worth it. To establish their bona fides they also offer bialys (bagel without a hole, and only baked rather than being boiled and then baked) and flagels (flattened bagels). Closed Saturdays.
