Game changer

Words and phrases become devalued through overuse, of course. The word 'genius' gets bandied around a lot, for example. Was Prince a genius? Or Bowie? I'm pretty sure Einstein was. Or maybe Da Vinci is a safer bet. I don't know: what are the rules?

And words and phrases slip in and out of fashion. 'Awesome' must surely have had its day but 'game changer' still seems to be in its ascendancy although surely it will peak soon. But this last few days I have had my own genuine game changer so I'm going to use it while it's current.

I've started drinking non-alcoholic beer.

I know.

I've tried it before and found it absolutely pointless but all of a sudden it's working for me. I've found a drink that I can sip while I read or write, something that I can enjoy cracking open, cold from the fridge, when I get in. I've tried with slimline tonic before but I just gulp that down. This is different.

You can see a bottle of my current favourite to the right of the photo, which I drank while I was recording the radio show. However, the Minx bought me a couple of other brands, today, so I'll try those this coming week.

In the interest of full disclosure, though, I should point out that shortly after this, I joined the Minx at our friends Mike and Sarah's house, where they served up an excellent dinner and I drank gin and tonic, prosecco, red wine, and brandy!
