We were very nearly caught by an internet scam today when trying to rent a flat in Italy. If you are using AirBNB be aware that there some clever scams out there that mimic the site. It's when the email exchange started talking about an 'escrow deposit account' where our deposit  would be kept safe that the alarm bells really started ringing.
