A day at the seaside

It was quite chilly on Southport pier, but it was sunny and so rather busy for a Friday afternoon in January.

I have a friend who lives in Southport so I go there every now and again, but today was the first time I'd gone on the train rather than drive.

It made a nice change, and (inclusive of my 1/3 off for having a Senior Persons railcard) was a lot cheaper than it would have cost me in petrol.  Plus it meant that I avoided all of the Friday afternoon traffic jams that occur on the motorway network near where I live :-)
