Through a glass darkly!

This is a window in the Central Halls, Bath Street Glasgow which I saw tonight. The architect James Thomson designed the Grand Hall as an extension to the original house in 1894 and the interior was remodelled with a new stair and vestibule by Andrew Balfour in 1914. The building has been used for a variety of purposes, originally as St George's Church Hall and is now the home of the Tron Church.

Glasgow has some of the finest domestic and commercial stained glass in Europe. During the 19th century there were in excess of fifty workshops around the city. This window is quite simple and typical of those in homes built during that period. Quite often they were part of the tall sash windows in Glasgow tenements.
