"Summer?" fungus

A wild wet windy day - walked the Rata St Loop and got absolutely soaked. Found this Amanita muscaria fungus growing in the bush - far too early for an autumn type fungus, though you'd think it was winter today. Wellington's anniversary weekend, feel sorry for all the people with events planned.
