Migrant in Moscow

It's finally over

Having had Christmas and/ or New Year in one form or another, traditional or Orthodox, since October, the decorations have finally come down. The Christmas trees (or sponsored decorations as they really are) have been carted away and today they took down the horizontal tree at Gorky Park (in the image, look carefully).  It's apparently a record for the longest (as opposed to the tallest) tree in Russia.  The installation created some debate on the internet with some disputing whether that's what should be there for New Year, after all.  However, it seems that most agree with the Park spokesperson who said something along the lines that "the installation offers visitors an opportunity to look at familiar things from an unexpected angle".  Which may well be the way we in which we are compelled look at things in 2017!  I had hoped to photograph it in good light this morning but arrived about two hours too late as the workmen were stripping the branches off the stem. Nonetheless, the extra (taken yesterday) shows what it looked like in full bloom.
