St Thomas' Church, Friarmere

With the fog this morning, this hillside church was still up and above the clouds above Delph.

It's a redundant church now but always catches my eye on the way to work, perched high up on the hill side, always in silhouette.

It was closed in 1970 and has been looked after the Churches Conservation Trust since 1972.

It's about half a mile, vertically it seems, from the centre of Delph so a less demanding walk on a Sunday morning to the new church in the village.
