TREVI FOUNTAIN

Another morning on foot Rome in around as you call it bud.
First call the Giardini Piazza Vittorio a Roman recreational area with games and bath houses near by. Then on to Colle Oppio originally this enormous park was the roof of Nero's Golden House and the Baths of Trajan, one of the most just rulers of the time.

Then over to Foro de Nerva to view it from the rear as we did the front yesterday, then up to Piazza del Quirinale. The Quirinale is the original hill of Rome and is the Popes second residence, and judging by the presence of half the Polizia of Rome we believe he must have been at home having his breakfast.

We then went onto what must be a favourite, the Trevi Fountain marking the end of the Vergine aquaduct, the last remaining aquaduct built by Agrippa in 19 BC.
Of course the reason so many people visit the Trevi Fountain is because of that famous film Three coins in a fountain made in 1954. It is said, throw a coin with your right hand over your left shoulderinto the water and you will return to Rome.
The ammount thrown into the fountain is astounding, on average 3,000
euros a day is collected, and this I am glad to say, goes to feed the needy and homeless people of the city, which I am sad to say are very many.

Called in at the supermarket en-route hotel for our lunch. Wine, cheese, selection of meats, olives, bread, fruit and more wine - delicious.

Will have to see where we go tonight. Will let you know tomorrow.
