St Mary's, Birkin

We have visited Mary today to sort out dates for finishing off her decorating now that the council have been in and completed the plastering.  It was sub zero and misty when we left home and still only 1 degree when we arrived in Birkin, but the rising sun had burned off the mist and the frost was fast disappearing.

Whilst I blipped, Tony visited the resting place of his parents and grandparents then we took a look in the church.  Recently, the building has been renovated and underfloor heating put in.  During the work, Saxon remains were discovered which will be re-interred in the graveyard during a ceremony in the coming weeks.  The church is already benefiting from the gentle heating and the modern improvements, good to see it being given an extra lease of life.
