on Creeping Jenny

The temperatures down here in the Southern United States have been deceptively warm, preempting an early spring. It has rained, for which we are grateful after seeing a long, dry autumn. Creeping Jenny, in her bright chartreuse dress, has begun springing up from the muddy patches in the front yard. Full of hope.

There is much to be angry and fearful of in our world today. There is much that makes me sad and ashamed. But then I remember the creeping jenny in the front yard, slowly beginning to cover the mud in her low growing vines, turning brown to bright green.

I find inspiration in a ground-cover.
