Thursday

Blue skies, the pool, tuna and anchovy salad, tears at the last page of Norwegian Wood, Ed Balls speaking out, and a hot hot tub as the sun sank low. All good then. And then a step out in a shower of rain to a restaurant right at the seafront where I ordered grilled squid. I've never been served with such a monster - it could have doubled as an oven glove. But was quite delicious.
Meanwhile, over on Twitter:

Tom Newton Dunn, political editor of the Sun: Theresa May has landed in US, and the Trump romance begins. Asked how they'll get on, PM tells me: "Haven't you noticed? Opposites attract".
Hugo Rifkind: "That spicy taste at the back of your throat is your own vomit."
