Spooked by a dog - 5000 Siberian Cranes take off

‘Happy Republic Day India – be proud to be Indian’ - that is everyone’s greeting today and ceremonies have been held in every village, town, city and school to mark this 70th anniversary.  We took off on another marathon ride to visit the Siberian Cranes at Kitja.   On the way we passed lots of camels on their way to the ‘Cattle Fair’ at Nagaur (see extra, with a bee eater and another sparrow hawk)  and negotiated the puddles and ponds left by last night’s horrendous storm which hit at 11 with enormous thunderclaps and heavy rain all night.  Wonderful everyone cried, the farmers will be pleased but the herdsmen and their animals in the fairground had a tough time and the sellers of plastic sheeting have been having a field day for the skies are still heavy.  This is late as wifi is useless, marginally less so in the mornings when less people are using it.  No photos to add for it takes hours and I’ll put them on when I can but thanks for looking, commenting and stars
