I parked up near the river Ouse in York today on my way into the city centre with my daughter, after her Stage Coach class. I haven't been down by the river since summer and was really struck by the contrasting atmosphere. It seemed so bleak and desolate, in comparison to the colourful energy generated by all the tourist activity during the warmer months.
