Hobbs's Run

Field Watch

Field watches (so described) have been popular for military applications for half a century or more and one such example, the Hamilton Kakhi, was one of those on official military issue to American servicemen between the 1950s and the 1970s.

This isn't the Hamilton of course although its reversed out black dial and 24 hour readout design is basically the same. Instead of being a daily wind mechanical timepiece (accurate to within 15 seconds a day), it is powered by a quartz movement which is accurate to perhaps 15 seconds a month.  Instead of a low profile bead blasted case, this one has large areas of brushing and polish so that it can look respectable in more civilised environments.

Having said all that, this is far from an expensive watch but it does have a reliable Seiko heritage. Anyway there had been one more empty space in my watch display box and .. well .. you know how it is.
